Nico’s medical career started in 1984 after gaining his degree and completing a year’s internship at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Transvaai South Africa.
In 1985 compulsory military service enabled Nico to gain invaluable experience in many different areas including A&E general surgery, pediatrics’ general medicine and the administration of general anaesthesia.
On leaving military service Nico became a general practitioner and also worked within the local A&E department.
Following Nico’s career as a general practitioner, over a period of seven years, he started a more specific career path as a Dental anaesthetist.
In 2008 Nico completed his Masters degree in sedation, where his thesis evaluated sedation in children 5-9 years old in dentistry using bolus technique.
